DESCRIPTION
The aim of the basic professional educational programme of higher education is to prepare bachelors in the field of international relations, able to analyse events and phenomena in the system of modern international relations, the most important international organisations and associations, problems and trends in the development of world politics, foreign policy, international and national security, world economy, international economic relations, world financial markets, international business and foreign economic activity.
The programme is aimed at training bachelors with the ability to navigate the main modern trends of world political development, global political and economic processes, the ability to conduct scientific research in the field of international relations, to carry out international political analysis, financial and political consulting, to ensure diplomatic, foreign economic and other contacts with foreign partners. The programme is designed to develop social and personal qualities in graduates: purposefulness, organisation, diligence, responsibility, citizenship, adherence to ethical values, communication, tolerance, ability to work in a team; improve general culture and broaden outlook.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
• carry out effective communication in a multicultural professional environment in the state language of the Russian Federation and foreign language(s) based on the use of conceptual apparatus according to the profile of activity;
• understand the principles of operation of modern information technologies and use them to solve professional problems;
• isolate, systematize and interpret meaningful empirical data from information flows, as well as semantic structures in original texts and sources related to the profile of activity;
• establish cause-and-effect relationships, characterize and evaluate socio-political and socio-economic events and processes, identifying their connection with economic, social and cultural-civilizational contexts, as well as with objective trends and patterns of integrated development on the global, macro-regional, national level -state, regional and local levels;
• generate digests and analytical materials with a socio-political focus on the profile of activity for publication in scientific journals and the media;
• participate in organizational and managerial activities and implement management decisions in the field of activity;
• draw up and execute documents and reports on the results of professional activities;
• participate in scientific research of international relations based on information and analytical materials and media analysts;
• participate in providing contacts with foreign countries, regions and provide political advice based on analysis of international relations and the world economy;
• analyze international economic relations, global financial markets;
• participate in organizational and communication activities in foreign languages, using the conceptual apparatus of international relations and the world economy;
• participate in ensuring diplomatic, economic and other contacts and relations with countries and regions of the world and the implementation of international projects and programs;
• analyze the behavior of business entities in national and international markets, explore foreign markets for products;
• analyze the features of foreign economic activity and take part in its implementation.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The graduates are employed as specialists in foreign economic activity, political experts, specialists in financial consulting and specialists in translating of standard official business documents and accompanying interpretation.
The department provides assistance in employment, maintains close ties with its graduates, holds annual meetings with them, paying close attention to their career and professional development. The analysis of employment of graduates of the department shows that the vast majority of students are successfully employed upon graduation.
